Frequently Asked Questions
  • Who is a spotter and what do they do?
Race-day spotters are key contributors to the sport of motor racing. Each driver has a dedicated spotter whose role is to "spot", or keep a watchful eye out for their assigned driver. In response to a spate of serious injuries, including several deaths, additional safety features have recently been incorporated into the sport of motor racing. While drivers now benefit from greater protection in the event of an accident, the downside to the new safety equipment is that driver mobility, and thus visibility, has greatly decreased. Specifically, a race car driver's head movement is so severely restricted that mirrors are now the operator's primary means of visibly tracking activity in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle's perimeter. But mirrors alone don't always show everything. To combat this shortfall, drivers seek assistance from above to gain a full, 360 degree perspective of activity going on around them. Each vehicle team has a dedicated "spotter" who sits atop the grandstand and, from a bird's-eye view, watches their driver's every move through binoculars and continuously provides updates to the driver via two-way radio communication. Action on the track changes every second and the spotter's role is to constantly make his/her driver aware of pertinent developments regarding positioning of the vehicle on the track and the safe operation of the vehicle. For example, the spotter notifies the driver when he/she has the necessary clearance to safely pass a competitor's vehicle, as well as the best route to avoid crashes and other track hazards. The two-way radio communication between the driver and their spotter is of great interest to the fans of auto racing. A large number of fans at each race can be seen wearing headphones containing a built-in scanner that is tuned to the communication between their favorite driver and that driver's spotter. In summary, the race-day spotter's role is critical to both the safety of the driver, as well as the team's ultimate success in the race. Spotters provide their drivers with a competitive edge, but mostly, their responsibility is to keep their driver safe. Instances of serious, and potentially fatal accidents in motor sports would surely rise sharply, were it not for spotters. The spotter's prominence in motor racing has increased to the point where, now more than ever, they provide a vital function for the sport.  back to top

  • How did you come up with the idea for "Jesus Is My Spotter"?
It all started one day while driving down the interstate in heavy traffic. Everyone was traveling at better than 70mph in three lanes across. The thought occurred that if anyone had a tire blow out or similar mishap, ten to twenty cars could quickly become part of a pileup, setting off a chain reaction reminiscent of speedway racing. How do race car drivers avoid wrecks? By listening to their spotter on the radio and following their guidance. But they don't have spotters on the interstate, unfortunately. The only spotter we have, on and off the road, is Jesus. Jesus Is My Spotter!  back to top

  • What's your shipping policy?
We ship via US Postal Service Priority or First Class mail to addresses within the United States. First Class is the lowest cost shipping method, but usually takes a few extra delivery days. If you live outside the U.S. and wish to place an order, please contact us at info@enloit.com. Your package will be shipped within 3 business days of placing your order. To keep our prices as low as possible, the rate we charge to ship your purchase is based on the weight of the product(s) plus a nominal charge for the cost of packaging and supplies. If the order weight exceeds First Class maximum limits, only Priority shipping will be available. A nominal $2 handling fee is added to cover our labor expenses associated with fulfilling your order. Many online merchants use shipping and handling as an opportunity to make a few extra dollars, but our goal is to make your shipping and handling charges as low as possible, and as close as possible to our actual cost of postage, packaging and labor. If you're using a shipping-related coupon, we reserve the right to select the actual shipping method.   back to top

We will never sell or lease our customer's personal information to anyone for any purpose. We will never ask you to send us personal or credit card information via email. Additionally, there's a waiting period of up to 3 business days to allow for authorization of credit card transactions before your product is shipped. We have also placed a limit of $250 per order. • Who is Motor Racing Outreach?
Motor Racing Outreach is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1988 and based in Concord, NC (http://www.go2mro.com). MRO serves as an interdenominational, Christian mobile ministry operation whose mission is to raise awareness of the word of God amongst the racing community, particularly the NASCAR Nextel Cup series. MRO staffers travel the racing circuit, providing spiritual support to the professional racers, crew teams, team owners, and their families. MRO is a high-profile organization whose representatives are very active in the sport of motor racing. MRO has been featured on Speed TV, as well as in various trade magazines and major newspapers. Perhaps MRO's greatest exposure comes from the national TV stations that broadcast NASCAR races. Representatives of MRO periodically deliver the invocation address at the commencement ceremony for many NASCAR races. The Board of Directors for MRO consists of icons from the racing community, including Darrell Waltrip, J.D. Gibbs, Lake Speed, and Phil Parsons, amongst others. Enloit Enterprises is proud to join the many prestigious corporations who support MRO, including SunTrust, MBNA, Harris Teeter, Mack Truck, Interstate Batteries, Coca-Cola Bottling, Clear Channel Entertainment, and Jasper. Maintaining the Biblical standard for tithing, Enloit has donated at least ten percent (10%) of its revenue to help support the fine work of MRO.  back to top
